Some users have reported problems while trying to upload data to the TripTrack Server. First we thought it could be a problem on the app itself, but we've discovered that even the safari mobile app was unable to find our servers, while the desktop version, using the same network, was working just fine. This revealed that the problem was affecting the iPhone only, not our app or servers.

After a lot of research we found some other developers complaining about a similar issue with their apps, and we discovered that it was a network DNS (Domain Name Server) look-up failure. For some unknown reason, the iPhone was randomly failing in finding some servers.

With wifi connection, use the following procedure to change your access point DNS settings.

Connect to an available WIFI access point, then:

1-Select Wi-Fi.

2-Tap the blue arrow next to the network you are connected to.

4-Select DNS.

5-Change the DNS Address to 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

The problem with this solution is that you will have to repeat the procedure every time you connect to a new network. Sometimes, simply setting the iPhone to Airplane mode and then switching it back solves the problem.

We also discovered a workaround that we have already implemented on the app itself. It will soon be available on the next version of TripTrack.
